Ludwig Van Borkum

Ludwig van Borkum lives and works in Munich as a photographer and a film and television creator. The camera is part of his daily life. It is always with him. Van Borkum’s view of the world is always through the lens of his camera. According to him, his pictures describe the relationship between his inner life and the external world. Van Borkum studied philosophy and originally dreamed of making films. However, since 2011, he has devoted himself intensively to photography. Real life is also part of his longterm project "German Langeweile," which photographically explores the peculiarities of everyday life and the people in his hometown of Munich.

Van Borkum is particularly fascinated by the Oktoberfest, where he has been capturing unique, funny, and sometimes absurd moments of the festival for years. His works have been shown in several solo exhibitions, including at the Munich club Goldener Reiter in 2019 and the Riviera Record Store in 2022. He is also an active member of the “Munich Street Collective.” Together with this collective, he has organized group exhibitions, including for The Roofs Festival 2022 in the Olympiapark and at Siemens in Munich.

His work is also highly valued in the music world, and he has designed several album covers, including two that reached the top of the German charts. Ludwig van Borkum never leaves the house without his camera. It is a silent companion that helps him see and capture the world in a special way. His photographs tell quiet stories that often say more than words ever could.
