Giedo Van der Zwan
Giedo studied as economist, but soon decided to steer his career towards more creative directions. He developed his skills as a storyteller and helped many corporate clients with their messaging and building their reputations.
During all these years, photography has been a constant factor in his life. From wildlife to travel and from abstract to portraits. But when Giedo discovered street photography in 2017, his passion had found new roots. He found that this form of photography suits him perfectly.
"Street photography requires all my artistic and intellectual skills and even works therapeutically for me. Moreover, I like the people doing street photography. They are often very interesting and inspiring. Much more than the people I meet in a corporate environment. I enjoy to meet other street photographers and take photographs together; sometimes in my hometown and sometimes in cities all over the world. This also led me to start my ‘Shoot Like a Local’- workshop collective and to hook up with the fantastic Street Macadam Platform!”
Giedo prefers to photograph people up close, often with flash. With clear, colorful photos he aims to tell compelling and at the same time alienating stories.
